Wednesday, August 13, 2008
-
On August 13th Radnor Ambulance was requested to assist at the scene of the 8-Alarm fire in Conshohocken.  The crew of 15-7 (Amato, Marchesani, Murray) responded at 17:40 and upon arrival at the fire scene reported to the Incident Command Post.  The crew of 15-7 was then assigned to respond to the area of Washington & Cherry Streets for a injured person.  EMT's Marchesani & Murray responded on foot with stretcher and gear to due the lack of vehicle access.  EMT Amato responded up and around the fire scene to get the ambulance as close to the victim as possible.  In the ensuing chaos, this victim was never located, and 15-7 reported back to the Incident Command Post.  15-7 was then assigned to the EMS Staging area at Elm & Ash Streets where EMT Amato assumed Staging Officer responsibilities from Battalion Chief 313.  The crew remained at this location coordinating EMS responses and incoming EMS & Support Units.  QRS 15 (V.Maguire, Plankinton, G. Cavanaugh) responded to the scene with additional Rehab supplies to support the large-scale Rehab effort already underway.  After reporting to EMS Staging, QRS-15 was deployed to the numerous Rehab locations along Washington Street.  FF Cavanaugh then made round trips to acquire additional water & supplies.  QRS-15 remained on scene until almost midnight.  15-7 remained on-scene until 06:45 Friday morning.  Thank you to all who came out and to the crews that remained in Radnor to handle calls.

EMS MEMBERS GET CROSS-TRAINING
Friday, May 23, 2008
-
Several members of the Radnor Ambulance recently completed cross-training to be able to ride the fire apparatus. Many our the trucks are responding with open seats, especially during the daytime. The Chief's Office along with the Ambulance Officers began this voluntary cross-training program to allow non-firefighters to ride the trucks to the scene and provide a support role. Each of the Ambulance members is learning basic fire ground support functions, i.e. connecting to fire hydrant, ground ladder placement, scene lighting and generator operation. It is hoped that all Ambulance members will be cross trained in the future. The following members have completed the required firefighter cross training: Ginny Maguire, Alice Heiman-Dowd, Linda Whitehead, Kristen Gillespie, Liz Powell, Robin Baker, Kristen D'Andrea, Malcolm Phelan, Adrian Boscolo-Hightower, Sue Van Trieste, Linda Whitehead, Travis Guthrie, MAry Kate Funari, John Cunningham, Darla DeMorrow. Congratulations to all.
